New York City free-lance percussionist, John Ostrowski, has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra of St. Luke's and New York City Opera. He has appeared on the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's MusicNOW series under the direction of Pierre Boulez. In the summer of 2005, he performed with Joshua Bell on the violinist's carte blanche at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland.
Pursuing his interest to explore styles outside of classical music, Mr. Ostrowski is a percussion-substitute for the Broadway musical MammaMia! In the fall of 2007, he toured Europe with the crossover group Absolute Ensemble and members of the fusion band created by the late Joe Zawinul: the Z Syndicate. He has also backed up country music recording star Amy Grant.
Mr. Ostrowski holds a masters' of music from the Juilliard School and a bachelors' of music from Northwestern University.
