3/4/2011 - Clunker Concerto at Carnegie
On March 4, Line C3 and Sean Friar welcome you to the American Composers Orchestra's series Playing It UNSafe with the world premier of Friar's Clunker Concerto for Junk Car and Orchestra.
This fun and highly experimental piece features found and junk instruments set as you've never seen them set before. Painstakingly analyzed and written into the orchestra's harmonic and timbral texture in highly specific ways, the result is a fascinating panorama of colors and textures, with just a touch of classic Line C3 fun and theatricality.
This concert is the result of a year-long collaboration between the American Composers Orchestra and the six resident composers through lab workshops around NYC. Read more about the whole process on the Playing it UNSafe site and watch videos about the creation of all the pieces, including Clunker Concerto on YouTube.
